from what I read, Portugal kinda managed to get the both of best worlds.
It's all about the numbers as usual. If they manage to get all the major problems of society under control and sill show good results economically, awesome. Foreign capital will still be flowing there.
Portugal tend be much cheaper than most of the EU, so that also helps.
I know that illegals there enjoy a lot of freedom.
