In February I took a tour of a plantation near New Orleans.  There was a lot of information about the slaves and how they lived.  There were still some of the original buildings where the slaves lived.  It actually didn't seem that bad.  I'm not saying slavery was a good system.  But they had steady work, a roof over their heads, food.  Probably way better than they would have had it in Africa.

This is actually true. The slaves that were "treated good", had a better life here. I've seen videos lately by black folks saying "the white people saved us" lol. Saying "even if living on welfare, its still better than most in Africa". The slaves that were treated good were fed, housed, and even earned money to buy their freedom and such.

It was considered cruel to free a slave, unless the slave could provide for himself, and I believe it was against the law. You had to go before a court to prove the slave was of good character and could take care of himself.

A lot of slaves asked to work for certain masters.

When the Union freed the slaves, they built them mud huts, with holes in the walls, dirt floors, and no windows or anything and said "y'all free". So all of a sudden, they were out of work and practically homeless.

Slavery was happening for thousands of years, all over the world, and it is still going on in parts of the world. Slavery did not start in the South, yet when one thinks of slavery these days thanks to the education system and media, they conjure up thoughts of evil white Southern slave owners.

300+ black women and children murdered, because they were more successful than their white compatriot's.
