I think that the African American men who died at the hands of the police will be a blackeye on America for many years. There is no excuse why these men had to die. There should have been other methods to take these men into custody or diffuse the situation.
In all of this though, I have questions. I understand where the African American community is coming from. They have a point. Yet, in the back of my mind I have these nagging questions that keep coming up like old forgotten secrets.
My first question is why hasn't the African American community at least acknowledged that in most of these cases if they had complied to the requests of the present police officers, perhaps it wouldn't have gotten out of hand? I feel for the families of these slain men and I hope that those officers involved get what they deserve. Still. The African American community should still admit that some of or all of these guys should have not taken on the police.
Second. Question. The African American community does know that most of these guys were no angels, right? Of course no one is perfect including myself. But seriously, to argue that "all" of these slain men were "totally innocent" is a dream statement at best. If anyone was truly "innocent" it was that young kid wearing the black mask that had some mental and health issues. But, even in that case he fought the officers and refused their commands. It is proven that most of these guys had priors for drugs, assault, theft..etc.. Did they deserve to die? No.
Third. Question. Now, I understand the emotions are running rampant right now. But. I need to bring this up. Why is it all of a sudden a huge issue with the police killing black men, when black men have been killing each other over colors and other moronic slights for years? Look at Chicago. Is the African American community saying it's okay if they kill each other, but if you're not black or the police then it's not okay? Come on guys. You cannot have it both ways.
