Maybe Biggie Smiles can answer this question.
I'm trying to help someone set up a website.
Trouble is .com is taken.
But we can still get .Co for the website name.
Question is, can website.co pass as being just as acceptable as website.com?
Can anyone answer this question?
Does it affect search rankings or disrupt the users expectations?
And is .net or .organization suitable?
Btw this is a for profit business this individual has.
Thanks.
I had a blog years ago with a tight name but never got around to consistently propagating it with timely entries.
Started out buying .com .com.au .net .org .info to redirect to the .com but as the years went by, prices got jacked up and I was spending 500 bucks a year on auto renewal because I'd forget to kill some of those unnecessary extensions in time, and the vicious yearly cycle would begin again.
So like Biggie says.... pick an extension and ride it.....whatever it is. If your growth is decent, snag up other extensions before copycats try to cash in.
