I'm sort of bothered that the victim of the attack hasn't ever addressed the wrongful conviction of these guys. It's not her fault, but they were victims too.
Trisha Meili was comatose for 12 days. She suffered severe hypothermia, severe brain damage, Class 4 (the most severe) hemorrhagic shock, loss of 75–80 percent of her blood, and internal bleeding. Her skull had been fractured so badly that her left eye was dislodged from its socket, which in turn was fractured in 21 places, and she suffered as well from facial fractures. They fully expected her to die. When she initially emerged from her coma, she was unable to talk, read, or walk.
As a result of the severe trauma, she had no memory of the attack or of any events up to an hour before the assault, nor of the six weeks following the attack. She has no clue what happened to her or who did it. She is publicity-shy and has managed to make the best of being profoundly affected by the TBI she sustained.
I understand that it would be a "feel good" thing if she offered some advocacy for the Five, but the fact that she has not done so ASSUREDLY doesn't create a problem for me.
