Matthew wasn't there to hear what Jesus said. He and Luke both got most of their Jesus material from some faggot known only as Q. Nobody knows if Q was there, but they sure know he didn't get it on tape if he was.
If we ASSUME for the sake of conversation that Jesus actually said what Matthew reports in 22:21, then let us also ASSUME that the rest of the conversation reported from 22:15-20 offers a CONTEXT (and I know that you know what a context is) for understanding what they were talking about.
They were not talking about submission to Roman authority, Lokmar. If you tell me that Paul ever claimed to support Romans 13:1 with Matthew 22:21, I'll tell you that the Paul of your understanding was a total dumbass, whose instructions are not worth wiping your ass with.
You're welcome, as always.
LOL! Star Trek The Next Generation wasnt around back then. DUH!
If you want to go to context, best back up, NOT go forward! Once you realize this, that idiotic mis-interpretation of the adulteress falls apart.
Jesus spoke the PWN3D! on them. However, He absolutely DID tell them to obey the Law of the land. Had he not, they would have arrested Him on the spot and had the Romans execute Him for treason!
I am thankful for the opportunity. TY.
